Society makes us blind.

The freedom I feel in the open space,
Away from society and this dreadful place.

I need a break,
Not enough give and too much take.

This isn’t something I want its something I need,
To feel alive where it doesn’t hurt to breathe.

I need a break,
not enough give and too much take.
I have reason to go no reason to stay,
F*%^ society I’m goin’ where freedom lays.

maybe I’m wrong and maybe you’re right,
But someday we will all see the light.
The light of what’s real
something society can never steal.

I need a break,
not enough give and too much take.
I have reason to go no reason to stay,
F*&^society I’m goin’ where freedom lays.

The American dream no one can seem to find,
They walk like test subjects for you, society, they are blind.

Ms. Audy

So this isn't an assigned blog post but I wanted to write it! The 12 years I have been in school I have had many student teachers. They come they go they have never left an impression. Ms. Audy was the first one I have ever had who I will remember. Her presence would light up the room and I just felt comfortable. She was always positive and didn't make me feel awkward. She actually taught us and was so creative:) I know she will be a wonderful teacher and I hope that life takes her everywhere she wants to go! Thank you so much Ms. Audy for making an impression on me and the rest of senior English! You will be missed!

Emily Dickinson

Emily Dickinson was a famous poet but wasn't discovered until after her death. She was most famous for her uses of punctuation and slant rhyme. She lived a very secluded life and didn't have much social interaction at all. It isn't known why she because a recluse but she became to cut her self off from society when her mother was bed ridden. That was when her most best work was written.

"A word is dead when it is said, some say. I say it just begins to live that day."

Saving the Planet

One thing that I can do to help the worlds pollution is stop drinking bottled water. I drink about 3-4 bottles of water a day. The water at my house isn't safe to drink so I really had no other choice for a while. I really want to get a water purifier because I cut down on the usage of plastic. Think about it, I drink 4 bottles of water a day times that by 7. 4X7=29. So if I drink 4 bottles a day for a year I will have drank 1460 bottles of water. If I drink 4 bottles a year for my whole life and I live to be 65 I will have drank 94900 bottles of water. That's a lot of bottles.

In the play “Taming of the shrew” Katherine marries Petruchio and is now you could say “under his thumb”. The lyrics to “under my thumb” by The rolling Stones relates back to their relationship. Petruchio saw her beauty and potential and took a risk by marrying her. Throughout out the book you see the steps he takes to break her down and “tame” her. Katherine is slowly changing only because Petruchio is using his own form of psychology. It even says in the song “A siamese cat of a girl
Under my thumb She's the sweetest, hmmm, pet in the world” I think he is truly becoming to see the real Kate. It also worries me because in a way I think it’s kind of sick but it truly can’t be a bad thing.

Here are some of he lines that relate:

“Down to me, the change has come,
She's under my thumb”
“The squirmin' dog who's just had her day
Under my thumb
A girl who has just changed her ways”

The line that stood out to me the most says “Her eyes are just kept to herself
Under my thumb, well I I can still look at someone else”
While reading this book I am constantly wondering if he has alterer motives while he is “taming” her. I wonder if and when he succeeds if he will take advantage of this and not be as faithful as he should. I guess I will have to keep on reading!

Woman In The Military

After reading the article In Time Magazine by Nancy Gibbs, "The War Within" I felt very angry and disgusted. It is hard to believe that the women in our military are being raped and are too afraid to report it. when they do report nothing much is done the rapist may get discharged but even then it is honorable. The article states that 8% of investigated cases of rape end in prosecution. It is truly ridiculous. Woman should be respected and should be able to feel comfortable within their military "family" How are women suppose to feel comfortable standing beside these men in combat knowing that later they could be a victim of sexual assault? They can't! The military gets so much praise and behind closed doors they are hurting these women who have worked so hard for our country. The military should be ashamed. If women have so much risk of being raped and the stats keep rising then soon they will be too afraid to enlist. Maybe even men will be disgusted and stop enlisting also. Something needs to be done and nothing is being done at all. Woman serving this country should be able to feel safe when they are not in combat. They shouldn't have to fear that they may be harmed by their fellow soldiers in the safety of their barracks. I think the military needs to take action and put an end to this. They need to make the woman feel safe and appreciated. I think the military needs to start prosecuting these men for their horrible actions. Something needs to be done.
