Woman In The Military

After reading the article In Time Magazine by Nancy Gibbs, "The War Within" I felt very angry and disgusted. It is hard to believe that the women in our military are being raped and are too afraid to report it. when they do report nothing much is done the rapist may get discharged but even then it is honorable. The article states that 8% of investigated cases of rape end in prosecution. It is truly ridiculous. Woman should be respected and should be able to feel comfortable within their military "family" How are women suppose to feel comfortable standing beside these men in combat knowing that later they could be a victim of sexual assault? They can't! The military gets so much praise and behind closed doors they are hurting these women who have worked so hard for our country. The military should be ashamed. If women have so much risk of being raped and the stats keep rising then soon they will be too afraid to enlist. Maybe even men will be disgusted and stop enlisting also. Something needs to be done and nothing is being done at all. Woman serving this country should be able to feel safe when they are not in combat. They shouldn't have to fear that they may be harmed by their fellow soldiers in the safety of their barracks. I think the military needs to take action and put an end to this. They need to make the woman feel safe and appreciated. I think the military needs to start prosecuting these men for their horrible actions. Something needs to be done.

Forceful Wind

After reading the two books in the Hunger Games series, I have many predictions for the up and coming third book. I believe that the third book will have lots of war themes but also a lot of happy themes. I think That The whole group (Haymitch,Finnic,Plutarch,Katniss) will somehow rescue Peeta and maybe some others like peeta's family. I feel as thought at the end of book two Katniss realizes her "Love" for Peeta and will end up with him instead of Gale. I also think that the other districts will over throw the capital and kill them all!!!!! District 13 will be the New world for everyone. I think That people will live off the land and only use technology when they need too. I think They will believe in equality and peace and make living easy. I think Katniss will have a family there where she knows her children will be safe. Forceful Wind is My Title for the new book.

January 11th Quote

"It's okay to cry when someone you like very much has died."

Thursday, January 7, 2010

Every where I look I am reminded of a memory. Every corner of every street is tainted. Every Store, every building is haunted with my past. I inhale the winter air and watch the steam exhale. inhale, exhale, inhale, exhale. Something that has never been easy for me. Breathing.
I try and go through the stages of my transformation but it is impossible. I will never be that girl again breathing; will never be easy. I am forever changed never to be the same. Through the oppressed clouds I see the sun peaking through. A reminder that life moves on and the cycle of life continues. I trudge through the snow, walk around the pale grey and black stones until I see the one I have been looking for. It is small but with intricate detail. The carvings are of angels embracing in the corners. I feel hopeless but only for a moment when I remember the huge bill I paid for this chunk of rock. My hands tremble from the intense cold and I regret not driving my car down the two mile Fame street. I guess I wanted extra thinking time on my way, not that I didn't have enough on the 300 mile drive down here.

Doughnut-Hole Country

Based on an article I read from Newsweek, I am classified under one of the four categories. I am considered an Achiever. Achievers leave and never come back. I want to move to a different state. Alaska to be exact. I want to be somewhere were the economy is less attached to technology. I want to surround myself with nature and naturalness. I want to travel all over Alaska and see its beauty. You may ask why I would leave when I'm already in "nature".I really do not want to be in my hometown any longer. I have been through so much bad here that I want to escape and have a fresh new start. I want to go somewhere and not be reminded of a memory every time I go for a walk. I also want to raise my children where they will be in a good environment. That is why I don't want to live in a city because it's not very safe. I want my child to be influenced by good.

Acrosstic Poem.

Killer eyes
Allow me to seek out my enemies
Televised and forced to kill
Never test my ability to survive
I Am the girl on fire
Sacrificing for what I love
Secret but deadly

I chose to use Katniss in my acrosstic poem. She reminds me so much of myself in many ways. She seems to be clueless but strangely aware at the same time. I find her intriguing because she has a way of being sensitive and yet extremely powerful at the same time. I view myself almost the same sometimes. I am very reserved and sensitive but when I Have to be strong I am. It's like an automatic switch in my head. Katniss appears to have the same switch. We both seem to have a good sense of whats going on around us but are both clueless to how people view us.
